I must remember to wake up before posting messages on this site. I should have said that 1.5 is the latest update for the KN7000.
I have a friend who owns a KN7000 and has been mailed the disk's to update to l.5 from the Techincs guy, Eddie Williams.
What the disk's do is improve some area's but details are not covered.
Perhaps one improvement will be that the tempo doe's not "freeze up" on occasion.
I have several other owners who have had this problem. My opologies for posting the wrong (5.0) update instead of l.5

HI ALL,
My K7 came with 1.4 but Eddie Williams sent me 1.5.
This is the first I have heard of 1.6
Has anyone besides Mike ORegan got it installed? Did it help out any problems. I just don't seem to have any K7 problems that I have become aware of.

OK, Two questions realy, (sorry I'm late, but I'm new and reading all the past posts.)
1, how do I find out the software version of my kn7000.
2, Is there any point in updating, if you have no problems.

If I remember from when I had a kn6500 it said you update at your own risk!!

Hi Slinger,

1. To find out your system version press the [PIANO], [GUITAR] and [MALLET & ORCH PERC] button, hold them pressed and turn on the KN7000. The version 1.6 is the latest.

2. If you have no trouble with your KN7000, you don't need to update your instrument.

Regards

Crysyl

If it ain't broke - don't fix it!!
I haven't installed any udates and will not do so until they appear on the official Technics website.

Hi Bill,

Amen!!!! Your personal policy regarding upgrades is mine also. First, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Second, if Technics does not care enough to post upgrades on their official site, don't upgrade. My KN6000 has been running beautifully for three years without the benefit of an upgrade. I've never experienced any glitches or failures. If I buy a KN7000 (or maybe an 8000?), I will play it as received and never upgrade unless problems surface for which an official Technics upgrade is available as a factory-authorized fix specifically addressing the problem I have. Which brings us full circle to the original policy of: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I know your background in electronics, and I have ample evidence in the form of your music which tells me you have put your KN7000 through its paces from one end to the other. That kind of expertise has to be respected.

Also Bill, thanks for your input regarding Track Merge.

Chuck
